Basic Specs V8 Dirt Modified

Cars are basically a single seat, open wheel, centre steer car. V8 powered, up to 360 cu in with single 4 barrel carby. Transmission must have an operable reverse gear, usually a Bert or a modified Powergilde. Chassis are constructed from steel tube with main chassis rail 50x75x3mm RHS. A quick change rear end makes up the rest of the drive chain. Suspension is usually torsion bar, coil spring or a combination of both. Power steering is used, brakes are usually only on 3 wheels, 2 on the rear and a left front to help the car into the corner.
Bodies are constructed from aluminium and or fibreglass to strict guidelines. Control right rear tyres are used and Methanol fuel is mandatory, a minimum weight of 980Kg including driver helps keep cars even. Strong safety measures are strictly enforced. These cars are relatively cheap (for a high performance race car) to build and maintain.
